One of our stand-out projects which featured on local news programs, newspapers and social media was habitat creation for an endangered pair of Osprey residing around Queens Lake in the Camden Haven area.
The client initially engaged us quite distressed as the current nest had crashed into the water as the large branch supporting their nest failed in a storm event. We sprung into action, notifying Council and the result was a great success. Council attended the site with us the same day and we put forward our plan for ecological restoration. We aimed to dismantle the canopy of a large Blackbutt which was next to the failed nesting site and arrange the branches into a large aerial platform for the Osprey to reassemble their large nest on. To their credit, the Council was very supportive and immediately granted consent to do so and were also very encouraging about the complex project.
The removal and platform creation took place the following day. The pair of Osprey circled us and observed us overhead for the duration of the works. As soon as we descended from the tree to our and many of the local resident’s delight, they immediately took up residence.
Many avid bird watchers, passerby’s and the caring land owner who refers to them as his family were all delighted with the result. If you wish to visit the site, please contact us and we will happily give you the location!
