The 10/50 Vegetation Clearing is a regulation in New South Wales that was initiated in response to the devastating 2013 bushfires which destroyed many unprepared properties. The rule allows property owners in a designated 10/50 ‘Vegetation Clearing Entitlement Area’ to take proactive measures to reduce fire hazards around their homes.
Property owners can clear any trees species on their property within 10 metres of a home, without seeking approval, and clear underlying vegetation (like shrubs) or prune any tree on their property within 50 metres of a home, without seeking approval.
